24 Oct 2005 - Scottish NUSARDG Teams joint exercise with HM Coastguard & MRI SAR
On Saturday 15 October, Trossachs SAR participated in a joint SAR exercise on the north east coast of Scotland at Stonehaven. SAREX KAYAK was organised by HM Coastguard and involved 2 coastguard rescue teams, the NUSARDG team and Maritime Rescue Institute's SAR team which operates a fleet of independent lifeboats.
Search dogs were deployed by 4x4 vehicles, lifeboats and RIBS to various locations along the coast. They conducted searches of caves, rockfalls and even Dunottar Castle for casualties, who were then treated by paramedics from TSART and MRI and evacuated by the teams working together.
