TROSSACHS SEARCH & RESCUE TEAM
is a Scottish Charity (SC028266).
Formed in 1998, the team has 24 members and currently has 3 collapsed structure dogs and 5 immediate area dogs. It is based at MOD Forthside, Stirling, which is centrally placed and next to the motorway netwrok to ensure a rapid response anywhere in Scotland. The base also has a SAR helo landing pad.
The team has responded to numerous incidents with 11 live finds by our search dogs and 4 finds of deceased persons.
Over and above that, the team has carried out first-aid to over 300 people and through its TSART Heartstart Scheme has trained over 600 members of local communities how to carry out Emergency Life Support.
Probably the most high profile cases we've been involved in were the Stockline Factory collapse in Glasgow (Strathclyde Fire & Rescue) and a search in Hull (Humberside Police) for the murder victim Joanne Nelson. However, we've also dealt with several other incidents including a building collapse in Polmont nr Falkirk (Central Scotland Police/ Central Scotland Fire & Rescue) and a coastal search nr Aberdeen (HM Coastguard).
On a lighter note we also appeared in the BBC TV series: 'SAS Are you Tough Enough?' when we had to search for competitors who had gone missing (and found them) and next evening we formed the hunter force along with SAS troopers and found all 16 competitors who were deliberately trying to hide from us.
